Take the Ride of Your Life on the City of Glendale's Float in the 2009 Rose Bowl Parade! Please read “Important Information” below.  The Parade It’s only five miles, but it will be the most exhilarating five miles of your life. You will ride on the city of Glendale, California’s float in the internationally renowned Pasadena Rose Parade. As you glide along historic Colorado Boulevard heart of Pasadena you will greeted by tens of thousands of cheering parade watchers and seen by millions of television viewers around the world. The Float  The float, entitled Sneak Preview, features a movie preview night at Glendale’s historic Alex Theater, built in 1925. In the 1930s and 1940s, major studios would routinely use the Alex as a venue for “out-of-town” sneak previews to test audience reactions to movies such as for Elizabeth Taylor’s National Velvet, Bing Crosby’s Going My Way, and The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer, starring Cary Grant, Myrna Loy, and Shirley Temple. The overall theme of the 2009 parade is “Hats Off to Entertainment.” Sneak Preview not only recognizes the city’s premier historic entertainment venue, the Alex Theater, it also celebrates Glendale’s role in the entertainment industry. Sneak Preview will be approximately 35 feet long, 18 feet wide, and 22 feet high. It will depict movie stars and the public approaching the Alex’s marquee and light tower and the iconic ticket booth on the way to a sneak preview. The original main curtain of the Alex will be recreated in flowers at the rear of the float.  For more about the float, please see www.glendalerosefloat.org.  Important Information The parade takes place on New Year's Day 2009 in Pasadena, CA. You will be required to assemble at Glendale City Hall in Glendale, CA by 5:00 am that day. You should be returned to Glendale City Hall by 2:00 pm that day. The winner must also be available for the float judging on the morning of December 31. Position of seat on float will be selected by the Glendale Rose Float Association. Costumes for float riders will be supplied by the Glendale Rose Float Association. Riders must wear the costume supplied. Riders must be at least 13 years of age. This auction does not include transportation to Glendale CA, hotel accommodations, or any items or services that are not detailed above.  All bids are binding. Winning bidder(s) must pay by PayPal only and must pay within 3 days of being winning auction. Seats on the float may not be resold or bartered. All sales are final. If the Glendale Rose Float Association cannot fulfill the experience, it will give a full refund to the purchaser, if requested, except if its failure fulfill the experience is as a result of Acts of Nature (including fire, flood, earthquake, storm, hurricane or other natural disaster), war, invasion, act of foreign enemies, hostilities (whether war is declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power or confiscation, terrorist activities, nationalization, government sanction, blockage, embargo, labor dispute, strike, lockout or interruption or failure of electricity or telephone service. By placing a bid on this auction, the winner acknowledges that there are inherent risks in a ride on a float they personally assume all of these risks, agreeing to hold harmless The Tournament of Roses, The Glendale Rose Float Association, and the City of Glendale and their subsidiaries and contractors.   Your participation in this auction constitutes acceptance of these terms.
