Join food authority Ted Allen to help give back to the community for an afternoon at The Food Bank for New York City. Afterwards, indulge in an evening of food and wine with Ted at Iron Chef Mario Batali’s restaurant, Del Posto. Mario Batali is one of the most celebrated and recognizable chefs worldwide and the winner of this package will be guided through the menu by esteemed colleague Ted Allen, with perfectly paired wine accompaniments. Ted Allen is the host for a new Food Network series, Food Detectives, which takes popular food myths and misconceptions and puts them to the test. Most famously, Ted was the food and wine specialist on the Emmy Award-winning NBC/Bravo hit “Queer Eye” and is the author of The Food You Want to Eat: 100 Smart, Simple Recipes (Clarkson-Potter), a cookbook for beginners that features easy, all-natural recipes for everything from steak to cocktails. Ted will guide the highest bidder and a guest through an evening of fine dining as per his role as Food and Wine Ambassador for Robert Mondavi Private Selection wines, offering his expertise on pairing wine with food. Additionally, Ted has been a contributing editor at Esquire magazine since 1997, writing about food, wine, style and everything else the American male needs to know. As if spending an evening with Ted Allen wasn’t enough, the winner of this package will be in store for an out-of-this-world culinary experience at Iron Chef Mario Batali’s Del Posto restaurant in New York. The menu at the critically acclaimed restaurant is a perfect credit to Batali’s strength of blending traditional Italian principles with intelligent culinary innovation. Among his many accolades, he has received the coveted James Beard Foundation’s “Best Chef: New York City” award in 2002, and “Outstanding Chef of the Year,” in 2005.
